Benefits of Heat Pumps

Heat pumps use environmental energy to create heating and hot water for your home. They do this by extracting thermal energy from the air, which is converted by the pump to generate heat for your water and heating supply.

So, let’s have a look at some of the benefits of an air-source heat pump:

  • Low running costs:
Heat pumps are typically cheaper to run than oil or LPG heating systems. A gas boiler costs nearly the same to run on average but runs on fossil fuels.

  • Efficient in all temperatures:
A high-quality heat pump can operate at high efficiency even in cold weather. Even in temperatures of -20c.

  • Almost silent:
They produce between 40-60 decibels of noise, similar to the noise of a fridge or a dishwasher.

  • Long service life:
Heat pumps have life expectancies of around 20 years, which is double that of a traditional domestic boiler (10-12 years).

  • Fewer emissions:
They operate using electricity and, therefore, create fewer emissions, making them much more environmentally friendly than traditional heating systems.

  • No need for fuel storage:
For homes that use oil or LPG, the need to store fuel is removed as heat pumps use natural sources of energy (freeing up space and is one less thing to think about).
